Editor comment: One of the finest stones that was ever unearthed from this important alexandrite deposit in Southern India. The mining stopped some 10-15 years ago and new stones have not been forthcoming for years. The intensity of the daylight color is unusual for alexandrites and ranges from greenish blue to blue depending on the light conditions. Because of the ideal tone that isn't too dark or too light, this stone always looks great ... even without lights. Although Brazilian alexandrites may change color better, they never look this good in natural daylight. The color change is moderate to strong and changes to purple under incandescent light.
