Natural Hackmanite

Minerals that change and temporarily retain color change as a function of light source are said to be tenebrescent, photochromic. Hackmanite is the transparent pink variety of sodalite notable for its distinct photochroism upon exposure to shortwave ultraviolet radiation. Pink and light purple colors become dark purple after 20 0r 30 seconds of exposure. The color fades quickly after a few minutes in natural daylight.
